Well, that’s a relief! It’s not the mercury then. I guess all those people who died mining that mercury, or were physically compromised in any number of ways, they had “organic” poisoning.

Gee that even sounds sorta green and environmental put that way.

If they were mining before the expansive beurocracy was in place to start and support such an undertaking, maybe the Andeans were doing it for the Chinese. It is hard for westerners to get that those wacky asians were here, sustainedly,for a long time.

Well, the biggest mine of mercury of the world (now closed) is in Almaden (Spain). And it’s a place plenty of nature and animals. Roman mined it to obtain vermilion, but it’s sure that the age of that mines is at least as old as the Huancavelica one’s.

It’s not the mercury the poison, the organic compounds of mercury are.
