Bifurcation is a logical fallacy, AJ. The government just makes up money -- it's not like they have resources which are limited to any realistic degree.

this is just a short term solution, and a horrendous one at that. are we forgetting the nuclear waste? Am i wrong in thinking that nuclear waste is much more harmful than CO2? whats the logic? we'll stop pumping CO2 into the environment and instead well irradiate it. leaks and accidents are inevitable. and 8billion? i can think of a few things we could do w/8billion. Schools? Housing? Hospitals? HEALTHCARE??

It's about time the US gets on board with nuclear power. I think Wikipedia may answer your question Katherine.

Nuclear does seem like a short term solution. I'm hoping the fusion reactors they've been working on in Europe will be finished fairly soon.

What, exactly, are the nuclides produced by radioactive decay of nuclides found in nuclear reactors?

Well, I understand there are many issues raised with negative sides, but right now I think building nuclear reactors will be a mostly beneficial thing for the US. Long term we need renewable energy sources for sure but short term nuclear power may be our best alternative in the mean time.
