		<description>Hmmm, a practice that is wasteful, cruel, and is virtually certain to lead to multiple species extinctions.

That&#039;s genuinely funny, &quot;...arguing that management of shark populations should be left to regional fisheries groups...&quot;.  Oh, so the Japanese can regulate shark fisheries as effectively as they have regulated whaling?  Management by not managing?

Need I point out that hiring people to be in charge of regulating something, and then ensuring that those people can&#039;t or won&#039;t do their jobs, recently led to a worldwide financial crisis?  One that led to a global recession and nearly brought on a global depression?  One that hurt millions of people?

Once again the commercial fishing industry proves that it cannot manage it&#039;s resources, it cannot manage international politics, and it does not want to be in business for the long term.  The industry itself is heading for extinction.</description>
