That’s genuinely funny, “…arguing that management of shark populations should be left to regional fisheries groups…”. Oh, so the Japanese can regulate shark fisheries as effectively as they have regulated whaling? Management by not managing?

Need I point out that hiring people to be in charge of regulating something, and then ensuring that those people can’t or won’t do their jobs, recently led to a worldwide financial crisis? One that led to a global recession and nearly brought on a global depression? One that hurt millions of people?

Once again the commercial fishing industry proves that it cannot manage it’s resources, it cannot manage international politics, and it does not want to be in business for the long term. The industry itself is heading for extinction.
