		<description>I can address the question of supervision during surgery vs. prescribing meds. A new doc (PGY-1) would rarely be in the OR in July  and, even if they were scrubbed in, would likely only be assisting the upper level or attending surgeon (retracting rather than cutting). So there is very little opportunity to commit an error.

That PGY-1 is far more likely to be on a medicine ward their first month where there is attending supervision during the day but not as much when you are on call. I would be very interested in seeing a breakdown of medication errors based on day/night as well as emergent/non emergent situations.</description>
