In this report, it would have been VERY helpful if the journalist had said how many of the 17 were constrictors, how many were venomous how many were scavengerish, etc.

pffft - he didnt count any snakes near Ottawa. we are being overrun by spiders and snakes and turtles.

where do these people do animal studies? some place where they dont normally live in the first place?

hell -just this morning - a convoy of 9 wolf spiders went streaming across my driveway. never seen anything like it before! single file....away they went. these big hairy things sent me jumping onto the hood of my car and my wife into hysterical laughter at my expense.

dont even get me started on turtles - they are digging away the gravel along the roads - causing the asphalt to evenually give way to cracks, potholes and other various "wheel alignment" challenges. I've lived in this area my whole life and have never seen so many turtles.

more than just one breed too.

i'm starting to think these studies are showing declining populations because they are looking in the wrong places.
