With hallucinagenic drugs helping people that have bi polar and depression disorders, is it possible to have an increased chance of bi polar or depression disorders taking hallucinagenic drugs as a teenager and developing the disorder when you are older? I think this would be an interesting reverse experiment to test in the future or if anyone has a definite answer for me now.

I believe there was a study several months ago, studying patients with severe depression, and considering ketamine as a treatment to tide them over until SSRI effects kicked in. It reached the same conclusion: one ketamine treatment provided quick and surprisingly long-lasting (2 weeks?) relief from the depression.

So with a “proof of concept” study like this, what is the next step? Is it large clinical trials, it can’t be ready for actual implementation I suppose.
