In my line of work, being near-sighted is handy. I don't need a dissecting microscope to identify small features in invertebrates and plants. I can also easily read the smallest print even in dim light, and I can remove slivers almost painlessly from little children and a squeamish sister. :)

I've had the optometrist tell me I'm an ideal candidate for laser surgery--I don't even need to think twice to say "no thanks".

As a lifelong myope, I wish that the gene had been identified and a method of blocking it had been developed when I was a kid.
                                                           Sincerely, "Four-Eyes"

Yeah, the headline definitely is a bit misleading with regard to the article's contents, a little bit. Heh.

So it's more like "Goodbye glasses? NOT!" but it would make a lousy headline. Please don't look at the traditional media for inspiration anymore, ok?
