@Reality No, it just means Yahoo! is smart. Rather than use their own money on designing the server, they use someone else’s money. Smart move on their part, as their energy saving are probably in the millions per year.

I’m surprised no one has implemented Einstein-Szilard refrigeration to cool data centers. Use some of the excess heat to power the ammonia boiler and then use the cooling part of the fridge to help heatsink the heat-critical parts. (i.e. use the heat from powersupplies to cool processors)

The sad part is that most designs aren’t cookie cutter and most people want cookie cutter…
