One only has to look at the comments here to understand how degenerate 'North Americans' are. Not too much evolution occuring on that continent.

But I also do not think the title is being fair, but rather sensational. A few obscure tribes doing this does not define everyone.

This is really nothing new. Tribes in Central America have been doing this for many centuries due to the limited amount of protein in Central America. It is not a stretch to think that people from Northern America would do the same if put in a situation where there is a limited source of protein or food in general.

Might not have been his own dog, could have been stolen from another tribe, or a cull, or died of old age etc., etc., etc., but still, it's no surprise to me. Just because modern North Americans are squeemish ...

I'm not surprised by this. Meat is meat, just like how India doesn't eat cows, but we eat them like crazy in the US.

People in other countries eat them now...without an ounce of guilt or a second thought, so who cares? Meat is meat, we just have different culturally conditioned ideas about it..what's cute, what's not. One is food, another is a pet and like a child. We'll eat a chicken, barely a duck, but not a hawk, or an owl. Back then, with no Wal-Mart super center down the highway to buy your processed meat at, if you were hungry, that meaty, beefy dog sitting by the fire might start looking pretty tasty, especailly if there were a lot of them that you had to feed.

I'd rather see rabbit, squirrel, pigeon, etc on menus than beef...much less impact on the environment if people ate such things. Better than a hormone pumped factory farmed feed lot beef cow ground up with its own crap and sold for 99c at McDonalds and has to have corn syrup based ketchup pumped over it to make it palatable.
