These are private companies. Who is anyone to say how they should spend their money? Secondly, whenever something new is done something is learned. The technologies acquired in the design and construction of this car carry over to many different fields. The car itself is “worthless” so to speak. What is learned from it can be invaluable.

Ending homelessness has never been done before either. Question – Build a car that costs millions and millions of dollars to “see if we can”, or spend millions and millions of dollars to “see if we can” end homelessness??? Our priorities as humans are f****d up beyond belief. A stupid car. It has rockets and jet engines used for propulsion. WHEN THE HELL ARE WE GOING TO PUT THESE IN CONSUMER BASED VEHICLES???? – NEVER. One of the dumbest scientific projects on the planet.

I’m not an engineer but I would imagine that the development of this particular car would lead on to other things. I do have the feeling that it’s only the tip of an iceberg.
