Pat Hill you are so right. I will never forgive bush and the 'moral'? republicans either. I lost my wife to diabetes. I don't know if stem cell research would have helped her or not, and now I never will. The reason I am writing this is that if we want this and other research to continue we must make sure these misguided people never get elected to positions of power again. They still want to kill all scientific research. I see shades of the dark ages if they win.

I anxiously read every article about stem cells helping in the near future. I have a grandson with aortic stenosis as well as a dear friend who has it and has lived 2 yrs beyond her "projected death date" . George W Bush delayed much of the stem cell research for 8 yrs. I have a hard time forgiving him.

George is absolutely right - every paradigm-shift hinges on brave souls. We have seen it in the Internet Boom (Jim Clark was the first to make a difference). The "Jim Clark"-s of the 2nd Stage of Genome Revolution (after "sequencing" is already an established business) genome analytics, including the understanding of genome regulation, with an emphasis on omnipotent (without de novo methylation) stem cells, are already named - to some extent. Mr. & Mrs. Eli Broad ($600 M for the Broad Institute) is one, Andy Grove (uncounted $ M for Parkinson's) is another. If the rumor is correct (?) Steve Jobs may have been a $150 M donor to Cancer R&D at UCSF. There is history to be made here - and it will happen.
