I have been eating raw cookie dough (homemade only) since I was a kid and just ate some (okay, a lot) over Thanksgiving with no repercussions. Thought about it later as I am taking a PPI and I know that the reduction in stomach acid can leave you more susceptible to bugs. No problems, though, and it was worth the risk (I'm sure) only because I didn't get sick.

Wondering how the bug could have gotten into the flour?

I would never buy that premade cookie dough in the stores. Yuck. I always made my own cookies at home and yes I've eaten the cookie dough on occasion (ahem always) and I'm not going to stop.
