Mars was once capable of supporting life, because it once occupied the very same goldilocks zone (wave orbit) the Earth now enjoys. There is elusive third resultant ( evolution-wave) motion of planets, besides the well-known ; rotation and revolution motions of planets.
It's a force by which planets move away from their parent stars and orbit of origin (against gravitation) and radiate instead, towards the greater outer space, according to their astronomic orbit'al age.

It's why Pluto and other diminutive planets were also once first class planets.
                                                                          -Aiya-Oba (Philosopher).

Good one-stop collection of Curiousity clips for us all. Cheers! :-)

May we soon see Curiosity triumph over those minutes of terror!
