What??? You haven’t gone to the CICLOPS website yet and perused the fantastic closeup images of Saturn and its amazing moons? What’s wrong with you? They have Enceladus in 3D! Rings! Moons! Less exclamation points than I am using!

As much as I’ve anticipated Cassini’s arrival, I can’t believe I didn’t know about this until now. (Then again, I didn’t have regular internet access until last week, so how could I have known? At least I came to BA!)

Thanks, Phil, for the link. That photo of Mimas is as startlingly beautiful as the photos Hubble has given us. When I was in kindergarten more than 50 years ago, I used to draw pictures of the solar system (Saturn had only three rings at the time). I could not have imagined then the true splendor of the place, but these images not only bring home the beauty, they also bring back the wonder and awe of a 5-year old. That’s a blessing to a jaded old coot, and I am grateful to you and the entire scientific community. Thanks.
