The Blog of the Planets

How have I missed this for so long?

Emily Lakdawalla is the science and technology coordinator for the Planetary Society, and is a pretty good writer. She has a blog, where she writes about things, well, planetary. She’s currently blogging about the Division of Planetary Science meeting in Cambridge, England, and reporting on all sorts of fascinating results. Titan, Mars, asteroids, Saturn’s moons, Pluto… scientists are studying cool stuff. Check it out.

Ok, it’s not scientific perhaps, but she’s cute too. Smart and hot :)

    Very interesting blog too.

Wow, yeah. I agree. Very cute.

I’ve always wanted to date an astronomer…

I discovered her blog during the Deep Impact mission and kept insisting in that thread on the BABB that everyone read her blog, because she was there at JPL typing fast and furiously, and she just had so much information. She explained a lot more of what was going on than we were getting on the NASA feed, and it made it interesting to know what was happening behind the scenes, people’s comments, etc. She appears to have good connections, and is an excellent writer; on that evening her blog was very readable and she was updating her entries in rapid fire succession.

Sometime after that I emailed her to commend her excellent reporting and she replied with a note of thanks. I love it when people reply, so that just added to my positive impression of her. She seems very personable, as well. I’m not a male, so I’ll leave the “she’s cute, too” part out, but hey, maybe she’s single and waiting for that stellar guy to appear… ;-)

Ah, Melusine, I must have missed that! Oh well. And for the record, I think she’s married.

Unfortunately, they don’t have a live bookmark RSS feed, but the old style manual one you have to add-in yourself. Otherwise superb and to be added to my Blogroll.

I should add that Stuart has been live weblogging from DPS2005 as well, with some nice posts on Mars, Saturn, Titanand so on.
