By now you may have seen this meme going around the blogosphere, where you can calculate how much your blog is “worth” in some sort of weird correspondence between links and money. I played with it, of course, but it seemed too self-indulgent to me to actually post it.
But then I started thinking… antiscientists aren’t going broke. Intelligent Design guru and known truth-stretcher Michael Behe is getting rich off his book. Antiscience is well-funded, and garbage-spouting pays quite well indeed.
So with this in mind, I thought it would be amusing to plug in some antiscience sites to see what I got in terms of their “dollar” amount. I’ve been doing a lot of Mars debunking lately, so naturally I put in Richard Hoagland’s site.
What I got was more than amusing. It was downright eerie in its accuracy.

P.S. Yes, I know, these two sites aren’t blogs. Actually, Hoagland’s actual blog is “worth” at the time of this writing $19,194.36. Mine is $138,312.30. ’nuff said.
P.P.S. … and lest you think I am picking on Hoagland, Nancy Lieder’s Planet X website and Bart Sibrel’s Moon Hoax site also rate a big zippo on this scale.

Well, shoot. I wish this were an accurate indication of how antiscience is doing vs. science.
If Hoagland’s (and others’) nonsense weren’t profitable, that would make the job of legitimate scientists so-o-o-o much easier! And remove annoyances for the rest of us reasonable individuals.

I am assuming one has to be a member of Technorati or something for the value to show up. Both of my blogs are $0.00 and even I can vouch they are worth more than that.

Well, we at the Tacoma Astronomical Society, know your worth so please keep on doing what you are doing! Just wanted to let you know that our “Halloween Special” public night was all about Astronomy Tricks and Treats.
We had fun faking the Coriolis Force ( the equator now runs through Tacoma Washington!), we balanced eggs, had some nice chats about our other favorite ‘myths worth debunking”, and astronomy related ‘watch out for’s prior to the upcoming gift giving season.

So like any websurfing lemming, I followed the Hoagland link, and read the facinating story of the Saturnian moon Iapetus. The 2 toned moon with a 12mile tall equatorial ridge isn’t a moon at all! In fact:
Iapetus is not one of the normal “moonsâ€? of Saturn — but is actually a 900-mile-wide, manufactured, ancient world-sized spaceship … created under 1/40th terrestrial gravity according to a fractally apparent, “tetrahedralâ€? pattern!
Nothing else makes sense.
You read that right. No mention if this was the spaceship that was hiding behind Comet Hale Bopp or not… I’ve never seen anyone who could gather so much evidence from so few photons, or neurons

OK I hit the link and looked at Hoagland’s site(hangs head in shame) but I noticed a very mundane observation….. the time tick on the images doesn’t chance. Now if I go to NOAA the time ticks do….Hmmm whatever could that mean. I know those controlling the weather also control time.
