Phil,

Good to see you at TAM4!

You talk - well, write - about Richard Wiseman, whom you describe thus:

"and he speaks with a British accent"

Well, no, Phil. You speak with an American accent. Richard speaks English. :-)

But the joke was hilarious.... I was in the back, and it took me quite a few seconds to realize why everyone was howling.

It is actually quite scary how close you two are in apperance. No wonder you are called "The Evil Twins Of Skepticism"...

I was actually expecting Dr. Wiseman to put your picture up during the slide presentation. It was definitely funnier when you walked out on stage though. So I guess it's safe to say that I wasn't fooled, but did appreciate the humor of it! Well done.

I was fooled... the people behind me started laughing, and I smiled just acting as if I knew what they were laughing of, but didn't understand that it was you before you started talking and gave it away... great idea! :-)

ah, memories...
I think a number of things spoilt the surprise - there was a lot of talk of how much the two of you looked similar during the preceding days, you talked about your uncanny resemblance in the bar and ,yes, you were trying to pull a fast one on a bunch of skeptics

Nice story, Phil. The photo makes it look like the gag would have worked if you weren't among so many people who know one or both of you personally (at least socially). It would have been a good one to pull on a crowd less familiar with you, although I suppose it was pretty much a one shot deal.

On another note, is it likely that the DVD will be available to be shipped to Australia, and also that it will be all regions (region 0) so I can actually watch it here?

Good One, Phil!

Have you noticed that you have a Psychic Employment ad running on your Blog? It's right at the top of the screen...

Hiring Gifted Psychics
Phone psychics needed. Work from home. Experience required.
www.hiringpsychics.com

It's either Cosmic Irony or another Plait Joke. Place your bets, folks!

Regards;

It was a great bit. I wouldn't have noticed the switch right away except that the night before you brought Adam Savage (MythBuster) into the bar and were talking about how you, he, and Richard Wiseman could be triplets.

Actually what gave it away for me was in the post about TAM3 Phil talked about meeting Wiseman and how they looked alike. In fact I think that picture up there is from TAM3 not TAM4. When Wiseman started talking about the switch trick it became very obvious that they were going to try the same thing.
