Venus Express orbital success!

Just a quick note, since there isn’t a lot of info just yet, but: Venus Express has successfully entered orbit around our sister planet! Hooray!

Over the course of the next few days we’ll hear more about the health of the spacecraft, but for now everything looks great.

Very cool. Thanks for the heads up, and I hope to stay informed.

Technically, wouldn’t Venus be a step-sister, given how different it’s nature is to Earth’s (atmosphere, geology, ect)?

I wonder what new discoveries will be found out.

My hope is that ESA will post updates more frequently than we’ve seen for other recent missions (Mars Express, and particularly SMART-1).

Was just reading more on this when I ran across another ‘Bad’ statement. Here’s the quote from MSNBC/Associated Press article about the golf ball stunt at the International Space Station:

“NASA officials want to make sure a bad slice or hook won’t send the golf ball careening into the spacecraft, or that a bad backswing or follow-through won’t cause Vinogradov to strike the station with his six-iron.”

The full article is posted here:

Ok folks, anyone golf? Anyone know what a slice or hook is caused by? Just too obvious, I’ll let someone else post the response.
