Very cool Shuttle launch image

‘

That image is a five-minute exposure of the Shuttle Endeavour launching from Florida in November 2000. I could go on about the mission and what it accomplished, but really, it’s just a very cool picture.

For the full-res version go to airliners.net.

That’s a beautiful photo. I’ve seen a shuttle launch but never make such a spectacular arch.

So Phil, 24 hrs before the end of world; are you ready? ~wink~

Have a bright and sunny day,

A little surprised you don’t seem to see the light of the booster fall away as a little bulge, but maybe they fade out too quickly.

    Beautiful, really.

A little off-topic, but since we’re discussing space vehicles – no word on Voyager 2 hitting the heliopause? It would be interesting to get the BA’s take on that. What do astronomers think are the properties of the heliopause, etc?

I got to see that launch. I was aboard the aircraft carrier about 10 miles out from the coast. It was the first time I have watched a shuttle take off. Very awe inspiring.
