Look, in a couple of weeks I’m heading down to LA for the World Science Fiction Convention where I’m gonna hang out with some Trek friends (like, folks who worked on the show and everything) and so I’m geeking out here, but c’mon! This one is totally cool:
How can you not love this?
Oh yeah. It wouldn’t be logical.

The first poster, page one. That alone makes clicking the link worth it. I kid you not.

I think those are based on the “Demotivators” posters at http://www.despair.com/viewall.html.
But fun nonetheless.

I personally love the Continuity one!

The awesome comment is so funny, it has now become my desktop image.
Kevin: THANKS A MILLION for the despair link….I laughed so hard I almost cried! My hubby is ready to order all of those posters!

Hey! I’m going to WorldCon, too! I’m supposed to be doing a panel discussion on SF modeling, if I can pull it together.
Wanna carpool? I’m on your way down if you go I-5.

I’ll be there too. If you see a big guy wearing a steel Viking helmet with a propeller on top, that’s me.

Pretty funny! Wonder if any other sci-fi series has their own posters like that?
I recall motivational posters in the navy everywhere. We sure could’ve used a few like what’s seen here to liven up the place.

That Fight Music… Ten minutes later, I’m still laughing over that one. (Yes, I hum it during many fight scenes in movies, tv shows, real life…)

One of my favorite scenes on Futurama was the one at the gladiatorial games on Dr. Zoidberg’s home world.
“And now, please rise for our national anthem.”

Why is it that these gigantic Trek Conventions are Never on the East Coast?
August 13th, 2006 at 1:14 pm
Ahem.
The World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon) is not a Star Trek convention; it’s a general science fiction convention. And it does happen on the east coast fairly regularly. See worldcon.org for details. (You’ll find plenty of Star Trek stuff going on, but that’s not the main focus.)
There are actual Star Trek conventions. I’ve never been to one, so I don’t know the details, but I’m sure there are plenty of them on the east coast. A bit of Googling should get you all the information you need (and, as always, a lot that you don’t).

I saw the Demotivators site first. Then I bought some furniture. When I went to pick it up, the warehouse office had the REAL motivational posters in it. I found it really amusing that soome businesses actually have SERIOUS posters up in this style!

OK, I confess, I don’t get the Sybok/Remember it for you Wholesale reference, Luckinbill
didn’t have anything to do with Total Recall (according to IMDB, anyway).
Whoops, there it is, The Delphi Bureau. Seems like a reach for a PKD reference, though.

Now I am even sorrier to miss Worldcon this year.
I would like to meet Jack Hagerty some day. The Spaceship Handbook is the most unapologetically geeky book I have ever read.

Fantastic, enjoyed every one of them.
August 14th, 2006 at 11:22 am
I’ve already printed out half of them and posted them around the office (when no one was watching, of course)
