Ok, I wasn’t sure if I should pack another 2lbs. in my luggage (they’re 12×63s), but if you say so! Cool…it’s months away, but I’m psyched already.

desmon Says: boring That was articulate. Actually, it's not boring at all. When I heard about the quake the observatories came quickly to mind. Nature.com has an article today and they seem to have gotten through it OK. But q80_demon is right - a Google search yields little about the Keck telescopes in the mainstream press. I find that odd. BTW, what are the night skies like there on the island (without a telescope)? Is is it worth packing binoculars?

Thank you for the links. You know, Iâ€™ve been wondering about the astronomical facilities since the earthquake. Too bad the topic seems to be of no value to the mainstream news channels :-/
