Science blogger conference

What if they held a science blogger conference and I couldn’t come?

Well, now I know. On January 20, 2007, a science blogger conference will be held in North Carolina. It’s already shaping up to be a really interesting fete… but I can’t go! I’m heading to Vegas for James Randi’s The Amaz!ng Meeting that’s on at the same time.

Waaaaaah!

I’d love to go, but I just can’t. I urge anyone else in that area who reads this blog to drop by though– it’s open to the public. It’s got a good list of people attending, and it sounds like it’ll be fun!

No offense BA, but if the choice is between North Carolina and Las Vegas, its Vegas.

Never thought I hear anyone complain about going to Vegas, in any context.

  2. ABR Says:

Oh, I don’t know, Tony. North Carolina has possibilities, too. I hear that angels are in season in an adjacent state!

  3. Dean Baird Says:

I admit I’m not even significant enough to be Tattoo to BA’s Mr. Roarke, but I’ll be at Randi’s TAM5 as well. And I kinda have a blog thing going.

Schedule *anything* against TAM at your own peril, rest of the world!

  4. A Girl with a Dream Says:

Well since it’s open “tot he” public I shall go!

    Sorry, I can’t resist…

  5. Carey Says:

Woohoo! See you at TAM, BA!

  6. Crux Australis Says:

Sorry, a little off-the-topic. A posting here a little while ago was about young-Earth creationism, and it gave a link to some university (I think) site that had a long list of arguments against creationism and young-Earth-ism. BA, do you (or anyone else for that matter) know which one I’m talking about? I’d love to see the list again.

  7. Ray Gray Says:

Wait—hold your horses/jetplanes—I thought that, in cyberspace, anybody can be anywhere at the same exact time, AKA; bilocation:

“Several Indian gurus have been reported at several locations at the same time in waking state, or seen sleeping somewhere while awake and active at another location. Some texts also depict a phenomenon where more than one copy of the subject could be seen.”

My question is: Which conference has the best wine & cheese table?

  8. Crux Australis Says:

Ray, BA can’t be in two places at once. He’s not an electron.

  9. JustAl Says:

Well, since it’s unlikely I’m going to make TAM5, much as I’d like to, and Chapel Hill is 10 miles away, I might have to check it out.

Be warned, all you people trashing NC - I’m lurking here.

‘Course, I trash NC most chances I get, but still, it’s the principle of the thing…

Crux, is this the link you mean?

  11. The Bad Astronomer Says:

My typing is teh suxx! I fixed the typo. :)

  12. Crux Australis Says:

    Perfect, thanks Phil!

  13. Gary Ansorge Says:

Actually, I think the BA can be in an indeterninant state but he won’t know which one until he looks,,,

  14. Gary Mcleod Says:

A very wise decision if I may say so, Phil, not least as I will be attending TAM as part of a small British contingent (we’ve still got some skeptics left over here!). It’ll be my first visit to the States and I’m really looking forward to meeting the most intelligent and discerning people in the country!

    Gazz

  15. The Bad Astronomer Says:

It’s not like it’s even a decision. TAM is something I Will Not Miss. It’s that simple.
