Science blog carnivals, and the vote

submit to reddit

The Skeptics Circle #49 is now up at Autism Street, and it is very, very cool. I don’t have an entry in it this time (too much real astronomy and self-promotion the past two weeks to do much skeptical posting) but you just need to go see what Autism Street’s done. It’s excellent.

Also, the Philosophia Naturalis science blog carnival is up too, and I do have one there.

And as usual, vote for me! A vote for PZ Myers is a vote for the cephalapodufascist horde.

omg, you and pz are neck and neck. He only leads by 6 votes!

Uh … I’m confused. First you tell us to vote for you … but then you cite an overwhelmingly important reason for us to vote for PZ. What’s going on here?

  3. 3.   PZ Myers Says:

I’m ahead again…I reminded everyone that I might pose nekkid if I lose, and suddenly I surge ahead.

I don’t know if I should feel good about that, though.

  4. 4.   Mark Uk Says:

You should both pose naked when you win, charge 9.99 for access and send the proceeds to your local church… hehe…

  5. 5.   Evolving Squid Says:

Whoa… there’s nothing wrong with cephalopods you know.

    Ia Ia Cthulh Fhtagn!

I voted for you, despite your anti-mollusk slight :)

  6. 6.   Evolving Squid Says:

    Just as a little reminder:

I voted for you twice, by the way.

  7. 7.   Evolving Squid Says:

Bleah, it ate the squid photo. I am feeling oppressed.

  8. 8.   Melusine Says:

Oh dear, Pharyngula is about 95 ahead now. Maybe Blake has some friends at MIT who can do a Doonesbury thing on the poll. [evil grin]

(Just kidding. I’m not advocating cheating of any kind. It’s just fun.)

  9. 9.   Astrogeek Says:

    Phil;

I’ll spend all my votes on you if you come down to Fremont Peak and do our public program once this year…

Oh hell, who am I kidding? I’ll spend all my votes on you anyway.

  10. 10.   Astrogeek Says:

    Rose;

Since Phil posed for the calendar, and PZ didn’t, shouldn’t that be ‘neck and nekkid’?

  11. 11.   J. D. Mack Says:

OK, Phil. I’ll vote for you. If…you eat a bug.

I mean, just how badly do you want my vote anyway?

Hey look, I think PZ is picking up that cockroach. He’s moooooving it towards his moooouuttthhhhh….

    J. D.

  12. 12.   PZ Myers Says:

Mmmm…bugs. I have eaten bugs and enjoyed them, I’ll have you know — even that big pale soft grub that kind of popped in my mouth when I bit down.

I haven’t eaten cockroach, though, and that might not be a good idea — highly allergenic, and they also secrete some rather nasty bitter compounds in their cuticles.

  13. 13.   idlemind Says:

A cockroach would probably taste better after it was roasted. Perhaps they pop like popcorn…

  14. 14.   Strider1974 Says:

    Just voted again.
It is definately a two horse race with BA – 987 and PZ – 1126.

  15. 15.   Linda K Says:

    I voted for you, Phil!

How did Skepticality not make the Best Podcast list?

  16. 16.   TheBlackCat Says:

I feel stupid, but I still can’t figure out how to view the scores. Can anyone explain it to me?

  17. 17.   The Bad Astronomer Says:

BlackCat, after you vote the numbers pop up next to the names. You have to have Flash enabled on your computer.

  18. 18.   Melusine Says:

TheBlackCat, once you click on your choice and vote it shows the scores next to the entries. If you’ve voted within the last 24 hours, when you go to the page it just shows all the current scores (or at least last updated). Right now it shows me that Pharyngula is 148 ahead of BA. I can’t vote again until around 7:00 pm tonight.

  19. 19.   Melusine Says:

Oops, didn’t see BA’s post. Didn’t mean to be redundant.

  20. 20.   TheBlackCat Says:

    I see. Thanks a lot.

  21. 21.   Leon Says:

There was not anny free sat tv. Thats was both lame and werry bad.
