Blog software upgraded

I just upgraded the software to the latest version of WordPress. I tested it and it seems fine, but if you see anything weird (images not loading, sidebars missing, etc) then comment here. If the commenting is broken, email me!

You are braver than me, Phil. I was planning to update my site this weekend, too, but I have been procrastinating…

Testing, testing. Is this thing on? Since I only get the errors when I click submit, I don’t know yet if that has been fixed…

Does a picture of a cute astronomer grinning from ear to ear with the Space Shuttle in the background count as weird?

    Just wonderin’.

Depends on what you mean by weird. Weird for this site, no. Weird for “Answers in Genesis”, yes.

what would be nice would be an edit function as the only way to spot typos is to click the sub-glove (sorry Sub-mitt) button

Only thing that looks a bit funny to me is that both the “Search the BA Blog” button and the place to enter your Email address for daily updates extend out of the table cell for that side column.

Other than that, everything looks good.

    See no errors

Right-side panel loads at the bottom of the page in my copy of IE6, I’m afraid Phil:

Phil – If you’re not doing it already, a good way to test your site without breaking it is to install Apache and mySQL (or whatever server-side software you need) on your computer. Then you can check everything out before uploading here.

Any chance of persuading it to show more than four entries in the RSS feed?

  20. 20.   The Bad Astronomer Says:

Ian: what browser/computer/OS are you using? That should all work in most common configs.

Graham: I have toyed with that, but having the most recent 4 entries displayed is the best compromise between download times for most people and max content delivered. The more I put in, the more bandwidth gets eaten up, and in general I don’t post more than 3 or so times a day. If I get linked by some big site (Fark, Digg, etc) it can really strain the server.

Jon: that looks like its a local browser issue as well. What are you using?

    • About Bad Astronomy

Phil Plait, the creator of Bad Astronomy, is an astronomer, lecturer, and author. After ten years working on Hubble Space Telescope and six more working on astronomy education, he struck out on his own as a writer. He's written two books, dozens of magazine articles, and 12 bazillion blog articles. He is a skeptic and fights the abuse of science, but his true love is praising the wonders of real science.

The original BA site (with the Moon Hoax debunking, movie reviews, and all that) can be found here.
