Great article, Phil. Really enjoyed it. I've decided to subscribe for my son -- well, and maybe myself as well. Do you ever listen to Skywatch out in California? Our local NPR station plays it on Thursday mornings. They had a segment on dark matter February 1st. I'd be curious to hear what you thought of it. http://hubblesite.org/explore_astronomy/skywatch/. Thanks for your article. I've posted it in my office's kitchen.

So, we must PAY to read your work now? Hmm, I don't see PLAIT yet in the Urban Dictionary... is it time to add an entry?

Phil, this sentence is still a bit confusing:

... they have created a map two degrees on a side (roughly 15 times the area of the full Moon) and 6 billion light years deep.

It took me till the end of the article to clarify this is one small segment of the sky being mapped. And there are no hints as to which segment of the sky.

"PZ Myers of Pharyngula is part of the Collective"

So, BA, are you saying that PZ has been assimilated? Maybe that's why he beat you in the weblog awards: Resistance is futile.

Oooh, nicely done, and what an ending....

"And they don't get any bigger than figuring out what the matter is with the Universe."

They'll never take root without writters like you.
