It’s only a flesh wound

Some Friday silliness. Warning: MAJOR geekery ahead.

1) Red Alert! Run Away!

2) More esoteric for my American friends, perhaps, but the UKers will love it: Parlez-vous Dalek?

I know, I’ve linked to stuff like this before. It’s still funny. And I admit to having a huge man-crush on the Doctor. He’s my all-time hero.

Christopher Eccleston is also doing a bang-up job as the invisible guy on Heroes. Check it out.

Hah! Startrek and Python! Two of my favorite things on and off this planet! And in this case, the whole is much greater than the sum of the parts!

I can’t watch the new Dr. Who, but then it’s been a long time since it was worth watching.

I saw one episode where the Doctor gets into a fight! a fight mind you!

Tom Baker never resorted to his fisticuffs or ray guns. He solved problems with his Gallifreyan intellect and beatnik charm.

Meh. The “Camelot” Trek was better.

Too funny. Star Trek and Python; two geeky genres begging to be combined!

    Loved ‘em both!

More … More … I want MORE …. More ….! Yes Please Sir, May I have some more?

And then …. and then… and then … More Sir!

That’s a nose? And it can be unclogged in a given direction? I’ve been watching these guys for 35 years and it never occurred to me they could be unclogged and
certainly not with a bright blue laser thing. Hey, I’ve got a cold. Perhaps high energy photons up the nose would help…
Nerd mode. Dr Who more or less lost it totally after Tom Baker (argument imminent), but actually the new guys seem good. Give em a chance.

Liked the Star Trek better than the Dr. Who one.

One of my favorite “mash ups” was while I was flying out to an observing run one time. The in-flight movie was Phil’s “favorite”, Armageddon. I didn’t bother paying for the headphones. The kids in the row right in front of me was watching “Wizard of Oz” on a portable VCR player. I had to laugh hearing “I’ll get you, my pretty, and your little dog, too!” while seeing Bruce Willis. I think the “Wizard of Oz” soundtrack improved the movie.

    Shouldn’t it be spelled “Daleque”?

I chuckled – loved the Trek one — Oui, vous comprenez maintenant! C’est correct! Oui, vous personnes drôles qui parlent anglais. Partout vous voyage dans l’espace extra-atmosphérique, nous Français sommes arrivés là au commencement! :D – Chip (a.k.a. Gregoire)

I liked the Doctor Who one better. Eccleston was fantastic, best since T. Baker. Tennant is good, but not great.

I give big thumbs up to the Dr. Who. The Star Trek was so-so. The new Dr. Who series is one of the best-written shows on television today, bar none.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is going straight to my non-BA bloggee friends…

Oh, and for those who dislike the new Doctor, you are showing your age and let nostalgia do the talking. :-P

The Dr. Who one is my favorite Phil. I’ve been scared by the Daleks since I was a child.

  17. 17.   Chip Says:

Dr Who is cool Mark – remember the words of Dr Who number 3:

“Defeat the Daleks? Just run up a flight of stairs.” – John Pertwee
    ;)

Be careful PK, I’m 73, female, and I like him!!….

  19. 19.   Harold Says:

Loved the Dr. Who bit. Even with a French accent and lines from Python, even armed with the Dalek-standard pepper grinder for an eye, eggbeater for a gun, and plunger for an arm, that Dalek is still menacing. Sorry, terrifying.

I thought Eccleston was the best Doctor since Pertwee. Christan, I seem to remember Pertwee using Venusian Judo (or was it Martian Ju-Jitsu?) to kick an ass or two.

Chip…SPOILER ALERT…umm, steps aren’t as effective against Daleks as they used to be.

I completely lost it with the Dalek’s first line. That was entertaining. The Trek one was good, too, but the Camelot Trek clip I’ve seen before is better.

I have an outrageous idea that will combine two popular contemprary TV shows on television that just need to be combined somehow. Kind of like the Python Trek. And one of them is Battlestar Galactica. I will let you know when its done.

i hate to break this to you but — tom baker’s doctor got into several fisticuff incidentss, knocked someone down and then threatened to break their nose while holding a crossbow, got into a sword fight in medieval italy and even knocked sarah jane smith out one time (for her own good, of course)! the thing i always loved about the old DW (which led to all those years of fan fic, naturally) was the underlying, only slightly suppressed rage and ability to hold his own in a fight — subtext was everything to an adult Doctor Who fan. as for Monty Python — what’s not to love? the combination of the two? priceless. and as for the New Doctor Who — mad for them both. and my admiration for phil plaitt has reached new heights based on his self-admitted “man crush.”

Two of my all time favourite shows: Python & Dr Who – a great combination. As a long time Who fan (I hid in terror behind the settee in the 60s when the Cybermen first came on TV in the UK) I love the edgy new series. The video clip was great fun.

I also loved the first one with Python and Star Trek. It actually makes the first series of Star Trek enjoyable – why wasn’t it all done this way in the first place?

Thanks for hte post with the links Phil. A timely pick me-up.
