Just some silliness: a guy attached a webcam to his cat’s collar, and the pictures it has taken are actually rather engaging. Some of his captions are a bit twee, but others made me LOL. And I wish I had thought of this! Someone should tell him to put Google ads on his site; he’ll get rich. But he’ll have to reinvest in more cats and cams.

Not silly at all, very interesting. Now why didn’t I think of that?

I agree. It’s no sillier than looking at stars all night!
I was interested to find out about the secret cat conferences that take place underneath cars.

The snake was a surprise.

That’s frickin’ great. The next time someone claims technology doesn’t make life better, I’m sending them that URL.

That’s actually really cool! I think I might order one or two of his kits and see what my cats are up to during the day…

Mondo-cool! Coolest application of technology I’ve seen in a long time. Of course, I live in a 1 bedroom apartment and my cat is strictly indoors, so it wouldn’t be very interesting here, but on my sister’s cats…

Next, he should put a GPS on the cat so he can see where that secret cat den was.

That was great! I would love to hook up something like that to our cat. And Aeriks idea alongside the webcam - perfect!

Only problem is that we plan to get us a Turkish Van Cat

I totally love this.
Now this is how science is supposed to be applied. Wonderfull.
I myself have a cat and would have loved having this this past weekend, as we got robbed and, who knows, maybe our kat could have snapped some pics of the burglars.
BTW, love your site. Really the thinking mans blog.
Cheers,

I love cats. So slinky, sensuous and cool. Unfortunately, while my Chow dogs also love cats, they prefer them baked, broiled or fried,,,bummer,,,
I wonder how much fun cats could have in a low G environment? Now a camera enabled cat in that environment would be really entertaining/informative.

PS NEVER laugh at a Siamese cat when she’s just fallen off the transom,,,she’ll likely plan and execute some hideous revenge,,,

I agree, most interesting technology I’ve seen in a long time.
Would like to see more of the same.
Takes me back to the sixties when I built hi-fi equipment from scratch.

No problem Thomas, just use one of those underwater cams
July 2nd, 2007 at 5:24 am
I’d use this on my cat, but since she’s strictly an indoor kitty, it wouldn’t be as fun.

Reminds me of an experiment I performed. I attached a cheap longish webcam to a model rocket. It required the next engine size up but actually worked rather well, even taking images of the base rocket 300 feet in the air (against the back drop of the launch site).
