Boulder rocks talks

Just an update– I’ll be attending (not giving!) a Moon Hoax debunking talk at Fiske Planetarium in Boulder on Friday night at 8:00.

Then, next week, I’ll be attending a talk by Chris Mooney, who wrote Storm World, a book on global warming, hurricanes, and politics. That’s on Tuesday July 24 at 3:00. I’m only 1/4 of the way through the book (I have one I haveta write too) but it’s excellent so far. If Chris’s name sounds familiar, he wrote The Republican War on Science, another must-read.

Any Boulder-area BABloggees should try to get to these events!

Be careful there, never know when these people will turn on Astronomers next: http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_6336193

No plans to attend the Colorado UFO Briefing on Saturday? A lineup of speakers headlined by International Journalist Paola Harris will “present Scientific and official Government information as well as provide other significant facts and resources on this important and serious subject.”

By all means, go the the Mooney talk. You might learn something, but prepare to be disappointed.

    NOYB,

What do you mean by “disappointed?” Is Mooney a dull speaker, or does he just not say what you think BA wants to hear?

Storm World’s a well done book, BTW (just finished it this weekend, review on the way). If Mooney can speak half as well as he writes, it should be a good talk (although I think he’s mostly signing books, from the looks of the tour).

For those in the Boulder / Denver area, here are his two local dates (from the Google page that BA links to):

7/24 3:00 pm National Center for Atmospheric Research Center Green Campus (CG1) Auditorium

7/25 7:30 pm Tattered Cover / LoDo (an easier one for many to attend since, unlike the BA, some of us still have jobs… ahem…)

I’ll be at the Moon hoax talk. I’m looking forward to it.
