Days of Wine and Spam

I get spam. Lots of it. But I got one the other day which was pretty funny:

We would like to invite you to join a magnificant [sic] and very special worldwide September event: The Days of Good.

The Days of Good is VERY IMPORTANT world-wide event which can help to change the whole World for BETTER and can improve the LIFE through joining all people over the World…

This majestic worldwide event takes place from 9th September (Sunday) to 18th September (Tuesday) 2007 and all those people of the whole world will join it (regardless of nationality, religion or spiritual traditions, cultures, philosophy, education, profession, age, or race…) who are not indifferent to their own life or life of their relatives and friends, life in their surroundings, village, town or city, their region, country and life on Earth in general!

In general, I think that everyone should do as much good as they can, all the time. And since this particular spam does encourage people to actually do something, instead of sitting around doing useless things like praying or wishing good thoughts, it is actually a cut above the usual New Age (rhymes with sewage) nonsense.

But I have to wonder: if they want me to think positive thoughts, why did they send me &^%#($(&*^&%@&* spam???

[click here to find out more!]

    Only $19.95!

I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t a spam where they accidentally left out the garbled up picture linking to a shady stock trading site.

I started getting astrology spam on my site a little while back. Now there’s a way to provoke some negative thoughts. . . .

Unsolicited e-mail is cheaper than an unsolicited phone call. And perhaps they like Spam (or Egg and Spam; Egg, Bacon and Spam; or Spam, Egg, Spam, Spam, Bacon and Spam), though I wouldn’t know why.

    I found the website: http://www.thedaysofgood.org/TheDaysOfGood.html

I only skimmed it since it seem to be a long New Age (rhymes with sewage) rambling (I do not agree with BA that it is a cut above most sewage) but stopped when I read this:

“Let’s not underestimate the POWER OF THE CREATOR – SOURCE of all Creation by ascribing to him (according to our faint conception) the capability to create only one direction or way about which we think that it is the best one, the truest one, the only right one… But the best way for everybody is, in fact, just his/her own way. Certain (concrete) way or the direction is only one of many expressions of the Supreme Source!”

Spam: It’s like a press release without the press!

I notice they have a countdown timer to the day in which they want you to do good. Hey WHY wait? Is that like I guess I’ll start my diet on Monday…

hey, I hope my mail (sent ~ a month ago) wasn’t regarded as Spam or anything. I mean since you got that one mine couldn’t be seen as Spam by your email service! :D
I read your notes about sending you email carefully before sending it. ;)

Anyways, don’t we all get these stupid things? I use thunderbird and it works pretty well for clearing out the trash before I get it.

    Phil,

When one lives in Boulder, one gets used to this sort of thing.

So what is it they are asking you to actually do that is more than think postitive thoughts?

The Transcendental Meditation guys at least want you to bounce on your butt. Not that I call that helpful, but it’s doing something.
