Pirillo in eclipse

Chris Pirillo did a live ‘cast of the lunar eclipse the other night, using his camera to capture the event. It’s pretty nifty.

He streamed it live on his UStream channel; there is also a live chat session going on. Chris is pretty much on the cutting edge of teh Internets at any given time, so if you like shiny techie stuff, you should subscribe to his YouTube channel.

And if you want to see lots more picture of the eclipse, check out the BAUT forum!

Thank you Phil. Your post the other day reminded me and inspired me to wake up and watch. Took some pictures:

and also woke up my 5-year-old daughter to watch it. She was bragging about it the next day! “Well, _my_ daddy woke _me_ up to see the eclipse…”

I work nights so by the time I got home I was able to see a dark spot at the top of the moon. I floated in the pool and watched the eclipse happen. It was exquisite. Thanks for the notification. I haven’t caught an eclipse in a long time.

    I video’d a lunar eclipse a few years ago (2000-01-20):

Of course it doesn’t have a cool voice over like Chris’.

You know what’s cool is to just move the slider and watch the moon as drifts down the screen (and then gets into a traffic accident as Chris adjusts the camera).

Phil Plait, the creator of Bad Astronomy, is an astronomer, lecturer, and author. After ten years working on Hubble Space Telescope and six more working on astronomy education, he struck out on his own as a writer. He's written two books, dozens of magazine articles, and 12 bazillion blog articles. He is a skeptic and fights the abuse of science, but his true love is praising the wonders of real science.
