Sure, I carved a Dalek pumpkin for Halloween, and I have a TARDIS USB hub. But I’ll draw the line at owning 225 replica Daleks.
But I will admit to a small pang of jealousy: some of those Daleks are pretty cool. And he uses them to raise money for charity, which is very nice.
Tip o’ the sonic screwdriver to Fark.

Children in Need is an annual charity telethon organised by the BBC and Doctor who has often featured highly. This year there was a special 8 minute episode which follows immediately after Martha leaves the Tardis and before the Titanic enters, featuring 2 doctors.
It is available for viewing at the BBC official site but I don’t know if you can view it in the USA for copyright reasons. You should be able to see the photos of it though.

And on that note: It’s the Doctor’s Birthday!
On November 23, 1963 An Unearthly Child aired for the firs time.

Making me just 3 months, 5 days older than the show.
Boggles the mind how long it’s been a fixture of the British science fiction landscape.
And, FYI, the latest spin-off in the Doctor Who world, “The Sarah Jane Adventures”, is another excellent show. It is a kids show, so you have to bear that in mind, but Elisabeth Sladen doesn’t seem to have missed a beat (and looks amazing considering she’s almost 60) and the rest of the cast (mostly kids) is good too. The stories are all two 25 minute episodes long and are well written and firmly entrenched in the Doctor Who universe, with appearances by the Slitheen, K9 (briefly), and references to UNIT and the Doctor.
I would hope that, at some point, the show will be available in the US (probably BBC America I would guess) but, as usual, there are other means available to obtain it via the Internet, depending on your squeamishness over unlicensed downloads of copyrighted material.

I think this guy has a “dome-head” fascination, just attach a toilet plunger and a wire-wisp egg beater and some green bubble wrap and he’s a kaled/ dalek all the way!

Somewhat sadder Doctor Who related news: Verity Lambert (Doctor Who’s first producer) has died aged 71. She produced the first two series in 1963-65, and was the BBC’s first female TV producer.
