Its not a rip off…I directed the New Zealand short ‘Fanboys’ based on a news article I read somewhere about a group of fans trying to steal a copy of TPM before the release date. I’m guessing we both may have read the same article.

This movie is not a “rip off” of the New Zealand short. If anything, it’s the other way around. Fanboys was written in 1998, four years before the NZ short. And the plot was outlined in Newsweek, the Village Voice, Ain’t It Cool News, and all over the internet.

I can’t wait to see the NY Times review for this one. I love reading them when they are panning a movie.

I have a sinking suspicion that we just saw the funniest points in the movie.

Fanboys was written by a guy named Ernie Cline and he’s a comedy genius. A few years ago he let me do one of his monologues for a show at Dragon*Con.

The audio goes out in the middle but it’s still pretty funny.

I can only imagine their reactions after actually screening the movie they work so hard to get.

This will definitely be a lot funnier than Free Enterprise.
