Carnival of Space #34

Carnival of Space #34 has launched (bwah hahahaha) at Spaceflight. As usual, there are killer links to space articles (including my Top Ten astropix and APOD’s, too).

A while back I was reticent to link to the carnivals, since they happen so often it might seem like noise. But I also started reading the linked articles (one advantage of no longer having a "real" job) and it’s amazing how many good writers are out there. So I’m gonna keep linking to ‘em, and I might even host one or two as I see fit.

Thanks for the link. I just downloaded “Mars Just Imagine.” It’s a very nice piece of work. It reminds me of these collectors cards I had as a small child in Britain outlining the Space Program from its infancy to the Apollo Program. Hopefully it will inspire a new generation of young people to pursue their dreams.

    Hey Mike,

You mean the cards given away with the tea bags? I collected those too… still have the album somewhere, with the final card confidently predicting a manned mission to Mars in 1986… :-(

(and as a regular contributor to the Space Carnivals, thanks for the plug BA, hope you can host another sometime. )

Yes! Wow! I cannot believe someone has those, let alone knew what I was talking about! There also used to be a magazine called Look-In (I think) that I seem to remember having several articles about space exploration.

    Stu,
If you find those cards, any chance of posting them on-line?

Phil Plait, the creator of Bad Astronomy, is an astronomer, lecturer, and author. After ten years working on Hubble Space Telescope and six more working on astronomy education, he struck out on his own as a writer. He's written two books, dozens of magazine articles, and 12 bazillion blog articles. He is a skeptic and fights the abuse of science, but his true love is praising the wonders of real science.
