Rebecca got Globed

… Boston Globe, that is. They printed a nice article about her new radio show, Curiosity Aroused.

BTW, Rebecca will be at TAM 5.5, and I will be sure to mock praise her when I introduce her.

Good article! I have my fingers crossed (hey wait a minute, that’s magical thinking, Rich, stop it! :-D ) for her to get picked up by NPR. I wonder what “pick-up lines” they might use… “Hey babe, nice show ya got there!”

This medida stuff is expensive and $20K/show might seem high to the uninitiated out there. But there are editors & producers involved in the show who need to get paid.

I’m a video producer/editor/graphic artist myself, so I understand from personal experience that a quality program takes time to produce so I’m sure that it’s money well spent. It takes me 3 months to make a DVD program for my corporate clients, and my kids need daddy to put something on the dinner table during that time.

Personally I’m itching to turn my talents away from shilling for industry and work on science education programming. Maybe I can find a way to do that this year.

Too bad there’s no way to download an mp3 that I can find. I don’t have the time to sit at my desk and listen, but I get lots of podcast time every day.

Phil Plait, the creator of Bad Astronomy, is an astronomer, lecturer, and author. After ten years working on Hubble Space Telescope and six more working on astronomy education, he struck out on his own as a writer. He's written two books, dozens of magazine articles, and 12 bazillion blog articles. He is a skeptic and fights the abuse of science, but his true love is praising the wonders of real science.
