Phil, your mistake here is taking Colbert for a journalist (?!). He’s a comedian/agent provacateur. Those whose political leanings match his, being those who don’t put critical thought to a lot of use, tend to consider his musings factual, and therefore believe him to be a journalist. Just consider it an honor to be mocked by him. In fact, I’m envious already.

Phil, you’re not going to get on the show until you have something to plug — i.e. your book.

(BTW: Given the subject of your book — all the scary things in space that could annihilate us — I suspect you have a good chance of getting on when you start your publicity tour. Sounds like a perfect “science will kill us all” subject for Colbert. But before then? Nah.)

Phil, I loved that bit he did. I’m glad there’s a video of it, so I can send it off to a friend of mine who is a meteoriticist. In fact, said friend graced my holiday haul with a few choice selections from the meteorite market.
