I virtually NEVER watch TV news. Most of my "news" is obtained from Jon Stewart, Steven Colbert and the Net. That way I get to laugh AND pick what I want to know about,,,

I will note, that when I first worked in Saudi Arabia(as a full timer) in the '80s, there was NO tv entertainment or commercials. When I returned to the US on vacation, watching tv was very disorienting. Certainly made me "Feel like a Stranger"(Grateful Dead lyrics).

TV! Bread and circuses for the masses,,,how very Roman of us,,,

GAry 7
PS: On the other hand, I love SciFi.

A good example of the situation can be summed up with the DEBATES that are nothing more than INFOMERCIALS.
ABC,owned by Disney, only allowed candidates who received contributions from Disney.
NBC, owned by GE, invited then uninvited candidates to their debate. When an invited/uninvited candidate got a federal judge to intervene, the Supreme Court of Nevada ruled that the corporation's !st amendment rights were being violated and the candidate was refused taking part in the debate.
FOX, owned by an Austrailian decided a republican candidate could not be allowed to participate, even though he can raise 46 MIKKION in cotributions from individuals in 1 day.
Debates have become just infomercials for the corporations. Vote your conscience. Do not support corporate sponsors in upcoming elections.

Hmm I suppose the only question is, what can we do? I guess the answer is blog, but that's rather passive compared to SOUND and GRAPHICS and Wolf Blitzer shouting at the top of his lungs throughout his show. Maybe we need to blog louder?

PS I don't want to pimp my blog out but would people take a look at leave some comments in it?

This video is unfortunately accurate. My ex's father would sit (and probably still does) in front of the tv for most of the day, digesting what ever it had to offer him and he'd formulate 'thoughts' and 'ideas' around what he'd watched.

Really cracked me up when the Predator was shown when he say "Terrorists!"

Like many a satire, this is all too true. I see similar situations at the tech school I'm going to.
