The trailer for the new season of Doctor Who has been showing in theaters in the UK for some time now, but they have released a high-quality version of it on the BBC website. Unfortunately, because they don’t understand the power of American bloggers, they made it available only for people in the UK. So naturally, it’s now up on YouTube. Spoilers ho, of course!
I suspect it’ll get taken down, but I also suspect it’ll pop back up on other peoples’ accounts, so if this particular one doesn’t work, taker a look around. In my rationalizing head, this is an act of civil disobedience. It’s what the Doctor would do.

My husband, myself, my teenage son and and my 9 year old daughter CAN’T WAIT! I grew up hiding behind the couch to watch The Doctor and Russell T has done such a fantastic job of reinventing it for a new generation.

I don’t have cable or satellite at the moment because of limited income.
However, I saw the last two episodes of a recent Doctor Who story at my sister’s house. Don’t know which season (story had to do with The Doctor disguising himself as a human teacher in England just before WWI). These two episodes, in their quality has increased my ‘NEED’ to get cable with the BBC America channel!!!
I first saw Doctor Who when Tom Baker was The Doctor and I enjoyed it. However, the quality of the two episodes I just saw was much better than those earlier efforts.
My fannish desire to see The Doctor has been rekindled!!

I have to admit to being a bit underwhelmed at this preview. There’s not a lot there this time that says “Watch me!”
Some of the previews from past years have had brilliantly must-see moments that had me eager to see the episodes, but this year, not so much.

The reason you can’t see the trailer in the US is because BBC is paid for by its British viewers and we don’t want to spend our hard earned money on bandwidth to freeloaders in the US.
Of course I’m just waiting for a big fat cheque from the BBC, they spend our license money to produce the best TV in the world and then they sell it overseas and on DVD.

The Sarah Jane Adventures starts April 11th on SciFi.
SciFi Channel will air Season 4 of the new Doctor Who starting around the same time, although I can’t find it on their schedulebot yet. Of course, I prefer the BBC airings (no commercials, no cut lines).

People keep mentioning that SciFi Channel cuts the episodes, but I saw The Runaway Bride on both SciFi and BBCA, but it was BBCA that cut it up…especially the ending. Maybe it was just the Christmas specials SciFi airs correctly?

That would have been the “Human Nature”/”Family of Blood” two-parter from the most recent season. It consisted of only two 45-minute episodes so I think you saw the whole thing. The new series isn’t serialized the way the old one was and most stories consist of only a single episode.
That two-parter was, however, one of the major highlights of the season and of the series so far, although the following episode, “Blink”, was just as good if not better.

@Gnat: Yeah, I don’t know which channel is worse about clipping bits to make time… But I know SciFi clipped whole lines from episodes in Season 1.

Why do captives fall in love with their kidnappers? You become dependant on someone for your saftey, and you end up creating emotional bonds with them. I’ve always wondered if “The Master” ever had compainions… if not, BBC One is missing an opportunity to create the Dr. Who equivilent of “Harley Quinn.”

I didn’t think that was a particularly great trailer, but the flash of Rose was an exciting teaser. Actually, I wouldn’t mind a few flashes of.. no, never mind.
But this season is going to be seriously marred by the awful Catherine Tate woman (the one sitting with the old man)… she’s got a “comedy” show over here in the UK too. She’s just not funny. And, though Doctor Who has never been an acting showcase (Chris Ecclestone and some of Billie Piper’s stuff aside), she’s an absolutely AWFUL actress too.
Bad move in my opinion.
