what's really disturbing is that on the website for his movie, he got rave comments about how the movie was an eye-opener and brought up a REAL issue in our schools. someone actually said that they see now that science is teaching us to be godless in school, and act as if this vindicates some crazy idea that scientists have some hidden agenda in teaching science. i just don't understand how there can be so many (too many, even if the negative comments are being censored) people who not only believe the movie, but believing it to be very well done. very frustrating and scary indeed.

Facts about scientists and the Nazis:
1. Most of the top physicists were Jews and fled.
2. Many non-Jewish scientists fled the third Reich.

Is a vicious lie evil? Were Hitler's lies evil? Did they establish
the climate where horrible acts became thinkable?

Is Ben Stein's vicious lie evil? What is he trying to do with
his off the wall charge? Just sell his movie?

Probably not polite, what insult is, but I really doubt that it can still be considered swearing. See the wiki for a history of the word:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanker

You could probably have a look at my previous <a href="http://www.badastronomy.com/bablog/2008/04/29/just-in-case-you-though-ben-stein-wasnt-an-evil-wank/#comment-171588" rel="nofollow"> comment</a> above about how at least one tribunal doesn't think it is too bad either.

Just for the record.... regarding the 'English swearing' ... 'wanker' means the same thing here in Australia too. 'Wank', literally means 'masturbate'. (yes it's funny) So a 'wanker' is someone that 'masturbates'.

To American ears its a cute little word that sounds funny. For a blog however, that not too long ago layed down the law to 'be polite' and to not swear, and has an international audience, well , its both not polite and is swearing.

Not that I overly care. Just pointing it out to those that did not know.

Ben Gonzalez

>>>"He’s right. There are still people alive today that witnessed the power of indisputable science based on Darwinism - Eugenics.

Hitler didn’t invent it - He was just the Al Gore of it, made it popular. He was the “rock star” of Eugenics."

Benny boy, I guess you aren't quite aware then that eugenics flies in the face of evolutionary natural selection. Eugenics is about ARTIFICIAL selection.

And does this have any effect on whether a scientific theory is true or not? Of course not. Do not conflate the validity of science with the uses to which it is put - by PEOPLE. If science says we can make an axe, it does not automatically mean that we should use it to go around chopping people's heads off. By your logic, we should also blame chemistry for chemical weapons and physics for guns. Let's get rid of science altogether!

Or, we could lay blame on the actual PEOPLE who misuse science for evil means rather than the science itself. because uh, that would be DUMB.

I don't blame the internet for the slanderous idiotic statements of Ben Stein.
