Live video chat Sunday May 18 at 3:00 p.m. MT

I’ll be doing another live video chat starting at 3:00 p.m. Mountain Time (21:00 UT) on Sunday May 18 (barring my dumb dog lacerating herself again). If you look below and see/hear me whining about my camera not working correctly, then you’re good. I urge you to go to the UStream page, though, so you can participate in the chat room (or find/use an IRC client you like; the server is chat1.ustream.tv and the room is #bad-astronomy). If you want to change your nickname there, type "/nick Maffeo Barberini" (or whatever) in the text field.

I’ll be there (we will all sing “Happy Birthday” to you Dennis : ) I really want some advise on doing some amateur Spectroscopy (where to get equipment, how much to pay, books to read on the subject etc)

Madge, I don’t know what to do about amateur spectroscopy, though I’ve been an advocate of it for about a decade. Just a quiet one, because I’m not sure what’s out there. :-) I know there is a book for it, and a web search will help. I found this site, for example, that seems OK.

Please don’t insult poor Canis Minor like that! It’s not like she did it on purpose.

BA You are now OFFICIALLY my HERO! Thank you for taking the time and trouble to point me in the right direction. The site is now firmly added to my favourites and I will be reading every Goshdarn (hoping this doesn’t infringe the cussin’ rules) word of it. You ROCK! See you Sunday : )

I missed the last one. I noticed Phil hasn’t posted any video from it.
