Science Blogs — which hosts the evil but lovable PZ Myers, of course — has started a book club, where folks can talk about a "recent, quality, mass-market" science book. This is a pretty good idea! They’ve started it off with Carl Zimmer’s Microcosm: E. coli and the New Science of Life which sounds like a good book (good enough that I may very well pick up a copy and put it on my ever-growing stack).
The posts are in the usual reverse-chronological-order used by blogs, so you should scroll to the bottom and work your way up. Carl talks about his definition of life, which is a good read. I need to write up my own thoughts on this, since it’s an interesting topic!
Anyway, I’m getting in a bit late in the game; the club started on the 1st and will go through the 15th. I guess they’ll move on to a new book after that, so jump in now!

Maybe “Death from the Skies” will have a go over there?

Just a quick question, Phil, since we are on the subject of Sb. Have you ever thought of joining ScienceBlogs? If I remember correctly you were giving it consideration a couple of years ago.
(They need somebody to challenge PZ’s domination of Sb readership! I am sure they’d welcome you with open arms.)

I’ve already got too many books giving me guilty looks from the coffee table and book cases. So many books, so little time. It’s a great idea, though.

I added a LiveJournal syndication for this: http://syndicated.livejournal.com/sciblogbookclub/
This is great, Phil. I got to the end of the internet last week and took a poke at Carl’s SciBlog. Oddly enough, I was considering getting Microcosm, but I just bought a stack of books, including yours.
