TAM 6 is next week!

Woohoo! TAM 6 is next week! I’m starting to get excited: Neil Tyson, Adam Savage, Banachek… and of course Randi his own self. Not to mention PZ, Richard Saunders, Richard Wiseman, Steve Novella…

I’ll be giving a short talk, and I’ve been agonizing over the topic, but I think I have it now. I also have plans to do more short video interviews like I did at TAM 4 (like these of Randi, Jamy Ian Swiss, and Adam Savage). This will be a great meeting, and I hope to see lots of BABloggees there.

SIGH!!!! Once again I will be forced to buy the DVDs and read the bogs. For five years i say, “Next year for sure.” and this year its moved to one of my busiest seasons. Everybody… twitter me @ buffalodavid, post on my Facebook, hug Rebbecca ,send me pics and vids via gmail. (Okay, I’m probably asking for trouble with that one). Tell Adam Savage that the skeptic he met at Bryce Canyon says hello…

And not just for me, raise a glass to absent friends.

I really want to visit TAM but unfortunately the flight from Germany to Las Vegas is very expensive and then I also have to pay for a room, food and a ticket to TAM.

    Any donations :) ???

    WOOOHOOOO!!!!!

Are you going to try to keep to the Iskeptic theme, or just do your own thing….

Last year I thought the only speaker who actually kept with the theme (skepticism and the media) was you, tearing apart the Fox moon hoax special………

    oh and ps……..WOOOOHHOOOOO!!!!!!!

I liked your talk a Cranbrook. The sequence on who is to blame for the poor science was particularly amusing.

It’s such a shame that I’m fresh out of schoolin’ with lots of debts! I’d be SO over there. :P

Randi was interviewed on the most recent Scientific American weekly podcast. The quote was that if anyone really could tell the future, etc., they’d be going to Vegas, but not for TAM. Randi’s million buck prize notwithstanding. Steve might have said that.

Randi said that, in the past, he’d been accused as a sham magician! They claimed that his amazing feats of magic were – now get this – magic. That despite Randi’s claim to the contrary. Next we’ll hear that NASA never landed anyone on the Moon, or some such nonsense. Jeez.

But i can perform magic. I do it most of the time when i enter a new room in the house – with a flick of the light switch. And, i’m a great musician. There’s a power button on the FM radio, and it’s really good music every time. I swear, if i brought out my current pocket computer and played a video for someone only 25 years ago, i’d have been burned at the stake. (And there are people who aren’t quite with it, so i’m careful). And so on.

Must admit I am sooo looking forward to this. What I am not looking forward to is the 10 hour flight from England. Sorry but hate flying, I know its the safest way to travel but tell my heart that when its trying come out my chest.

You all are doing an excellent work to debunk supersticion and pseudoscience and to enlighten people with the torch of freethinking.

That would be so much fun. My son loves his “I reject your reality and substitute my own” t-shirt and would so enjoy seeing Adam Savage. My son was impressed that you had met Adam.

We’ve seen two of the other speakers at our local annual science talk. Art Benjamin was intriguing and got us thinking. But Neil DeGrasse Tyson was awesome, inspiring, and probably converted some kids to paying more attention to their studies so that they could grow up to be like him. I’m sure you’ll have fun.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that is going to be at TAM for the first time. If you happen to notice a guy roughly the size of The Kingpin from Marvel Comics, that’s me.

    Words and stuff.

Finally! It seemed to take forever to get here. I really noticed the extra six months from TAM 5. I couldn’t make it to 5.5, so no booster shot to hold me over.

You first timers should really enjoy it. It’s a lot of fun, with smart folks everywhere you look (at the conference at least).

This’ll be my 4th time attending, and I’ve gone by myself every time. There’s no need to worry about whether you can get anyone to go with you. You’ll meet plenty of interesting people there. Don’t let that hold any of you back from going in the future.
