Wow, thanks, great minds think alike! A Tardis observatory would also be a real crowd-puller, an enterprising astronomy group could even build a portable Tardis observatory to take around schools on the back of a trailer, the kids would totally love it! I wish I had the time, money, skills etc... A police box would be relatively easy to mass-produce as flat-packed (possibly fibreglass?) panels, roof sections with a top light which are assembled by the buyer. Available as either the 3-panel porch model or a free-standing option with all 4 panels. Sigh, wish I was practical! If you do get someone to make your observatory, maybe you could make a you tube video about it?

@ Gazz
I already have plans to incorporate my telescope into the Tardis shed (if only I can find a "handy" man to help build it.) But I truly LOVE your porch idea! :D

Maybe you could combine shed and observatory by giving the tardished a rotating roof with a slot to point a telescope out of? Or, to create the 'bigger on the inside' effect, you could build three panels of the tardis around the conventional entrance to your house, like a porch, so it looks like the tardis is standing up against a wall but it leads into your house when you enter.

I am one of those lucky guys with a tool savy wife. We have done all our house renos side by side. The only thing she refuses to tackle is torch soldering and electrical wiring. Then again I hate drywalling and painting so I think it evens out. It was her idea once to give a young daughter of a friends of ours a set of tools as a house warming gift when she moved out on her own. After the laughter subsided, I was amazed at how many of her girlfriends came up to us and told us how cool that was. I think the young generation of women are to be greatly admired for their willingness to take on the world, both accademic and physical. Good on all of you.

My Enquiring Mind wants to know: Is the pub bigger on the inside? Let's cross a pub with a TARDIS and find out........ and while we're at it, let's see if it makes the kegs and bottles bigger on the inside too. :-)
