Discovery Channel podcast interview

I was interviewed recently by Dan Sondak for the Discovery Channel podcast, and the ‘cast is now online (direct download here). I was unusually lucid during this interview — coffee, is there nothing it can’t do? — and we chatted about JREF, the Mythbusters, and Death from the Skies!

I’ve also embedded the player below, so you can listen from the comfort of your very own home… page.

Don’t you need to print a disclaimer saying that Discover Magazine is not affiliated with the Discovery Channel? ;)

The link you posted leads to the Obama’s science policy thread, Phil.

Man, I’d better be more careful with my cut-and-paste. That must have gotten messed up when I added the embed. Thanks for letting me know!

    Very good interview BA.
I’m very much reassured that I’m not in immediate peril from passing black holes. Plus, I’m strangely compelled to admire VISA and its services.

Phil, I’ve always been impressed with your clarity and lucidity when you speak of complex scientific ideas and processes. I love your YouTube Q&As. You really ought to host a documentary or science show some day, you’d be great at it.

Death from the Skies? Did you write a book or something? If not, can I steal that title? It would be a story about the Large Hadron Collider forming a microblackhole, and then inexplicably falling on Dallas. Also, robots.

Lucid, eh? Guess the coffee wore off before you got to the posting,,,Now, I prefer Peets French Roast, ingested 12 ounces at a time. THAT will waken most folk(or else give them a heart attack,,,)

Phil, I would be VERY suspicious of you if you DIDN’T occasionally make a mistake. Only advanced AIs have THAT capability,,,SAY, wait a minute, maybe THAT explains how you can be on TV, attend SciFi/Fantasy Cons, write a book, administer this Blog, AND have a family life. Or perhaps, like Issac Asimov, you have a half dozen clones running around,,,

Hmmmm, I’ll be keepinmg a close eye on you,,,

OOPS, I almost forgot to ask, when is your new book due out? I dislike ordering mine too far in advance, as I sometimes forget I did that and and up with multiple orders.

    @Gary

I’m sure Phil won’t mind if you order more than one. :)

There are many things coffee can not do Phil. For example, it will never make my gf look as good as beer does. Now, if you excuse, I need to make sure she never finds this blog.

    BTW cool show.

    Very nice interview Phil.
Can I get a free copy of your new book for saying that? ;)

@Gary7, what’s wrong with the posting? seems perfectly lucid to me.

Okay, so now the interviews have started, when can we expect to see you on the Colbert Report? With a title like that, any publicist worth their salt should be able to swing an interview….. right?

    Overstroming :

Phils link posted to Obamas Science policy instead of the Discovery Channel podcast, Decius said so, so it must be true,,,

Actually, I just love to kid Phil. He’s so bloody competent at getting things done. Musta learned that on his way to his PHd. I wish I’d had half as much discipline when I was pursuing my physics degree, way back when,,,
