Getting Randi in NYC

James Randi speaking in NYV October 10, 2008For those BABloggees in the Big Apple area, James "The Amazing" Randi will be giving a presentation called "I Doubt That!" on October 10, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. The location is the Caspary Auditorium at Rockefeller University (1230 York Avenue (66th St.) New York City). The talk is free and open to the public, and it’s hosted by the New York City Skeptics.

If you’ve never heard Randi speak, this is a great chance. He’s very entertaining, and in this overview of skepticism I have no doubt — ironically — that he’ll be a lot of fun.

Phil said “that he’ll be lot of fun”

Phil, “a lot” or “loads of” or am I missing something else. It would be amusing if it meant that he was turning people into pillars of salt.

Weeee, I get to be pedant for a change.

Of course I left out the “?” at the end of Phil, “a lot” or “loads of” or am I missing something else?

I don’t think I’ve ever managed to make a correction without making a blue, ever. Damn.
    *skulks back into lurk mode*

    @ shane

That’s what happens when you try to post things too soon.

Yes, the audio will be available – and hopefully video as well (although the format is yet to be determined).

And what does that headline mean to our friends in the UK?

Don’t worry, Shane, I’ll never accuse you of pedanticness

    …

Because the word is “pedantry”, dammit.

buffalodavid. That James Randi is appearing in New York City. Unless of course we couldn’t spell RandY :) Coincidentally, Randi is on CH5 UK TV tomorrow testing a ‘baby mind reader’ for the million. However, I won’t bother watching it as I have seen this clown before and to say that he was an embarrassment is an understatement, even with a totally non sceptical host who let him make a string of excuses for total failure.

Pedant, pendant or pederast. I know enough that it can be really awkward if you get them confused.

[...] James “The Amazing” Randi is giving a talk in NYC – I will definitely be there with bells on (I haven’t decided whether these are to be literal or figurative bells yet). If you can come, this is not to be missed. There’s a reason they call him “The Amazing.” Oh, and it’s FREE. [...]

It is a pity he is not on his way to South Africa instead. NY is unfortunately a 18+ hour flight (and more money than I have) away. Any chance of putting up the link to the audio/video of the talk if/when available Phil?

Blast it all – the very day I am going out to Montauk for a long weekend.
