Monster repeat

Speaking of good shows on the bewb tewb, I heard that the PBS NOVA show "Monster of the Milky Way" will be repeated tonight. It’s a good show about the black hole in the center of our galaxy. I was a science consultant on it, in fact! So obviously it must be a superior show. That, plus it had a bunch of other scientists in much larger roles, and good writers and director and producer and all that.

If you miss it on the teevee, you can always watch it online anyway. PBS is cool.

I just finished watching it online, and I really liked it. It was a great look at black holes. I really love NOVA’s programs

Imagine my surprise when I saw that the star of the show was none other than my old buddy Brian McNamara!

I haven’t seen him in 26 years! He was in grad school at UVa’s Astronomy Dept. when I was an observer with the parallax program there!

I sat in on a presentation Dr. Andrea Ghez gave at U.C. Riverside several years ago. Her findings were still quite new then and I expected some challenges from the assembled Profs and grads. The atmosphere seemed to be a bit more of ‘well, we were expecting that. Wish I had thought to do the research’.

Thanks for the link, great show – could of done without the incidental music though!
