I read the title of this entry, and before I saw that it was about Daleks, I assumed it was a cake that represented a giant asteroid striking the Earth. I think my new mission in life may be realising the dream of the Deep (Frosting) Impact cake.

In fairness, anyone trying to buttercream a Dalek is already in a world of hurt (and using candies for the Dalek bumps was actually a pretty good idea). Thanks for thu link to the blog though. Bookmarked & sure to provide hours of fun.

I do bake a lot, but I’ve never been a big one for doing the massively decorated cakes (takes that much longer before you get to eat it). But, I might just have to give this a try.

Now a couple of them looked structurally sound but I think they had major frosting issues. They might have been better served if they had used fondant like the Duff from Ace of Cakes. Hmmm if I’m ever rich maybe I’ll have him make me a Dalek cake. I’ll shall [i]masticate…masticate[/i] it.

You think 1700 m is bad – I remember living in Los Alamos and reading the instructions on the side of the box for High altitude (3000 – 6000 ft). “And what do you do at 7500 ft?????”
It has other odd things, like boiling spaghetti al dente in 20 min, the 1 h potato, and the 10 min soft boiled egg.

ROFLM@O!!! That dalek looks like a pile of you know what!

However, it does not compare to the cake disaster I experienced… I ordered a large Ice Cream cake for my daughters birthday. At that age, she happened to love Barbie, so that was the theme. Dairy Queen happened to make a Barbie Ice Cream cake.

I ordered the biggest one. My friend, wisely suggested that the largest would be way too big. I called the DQ, and changed the order to a smaller size. Someone forgot to tell the person who programmed the computer that put the image on the cake…

Barbie ended up looking like a total skank crack w*ore. I thought my daughter would be devastated… she laughed harder than anyone!

That is so totally cool. I have been considering doing a Dr Who party this November (though the chaos in my extended family right now makes it a dicey proposition) and if I make it work, this cake would be a MUST!!!

I’m not much of a cook, but I do like to bake. The whole decorating them elaborately gig is not my thing, though. Plain and simple, please.
