I like the theory that its not “The” Doctor but another Time Lord who took on the mantle, but Sarah Jane “recognized” him as the Doctor and UNIT has accepted him as the Doctor repeatedly so that shoots that out of the water. Also with Sarah recognizing him in a different form perhaps his future wife can also recognize him in his different personas. One last thought I had wondered that maybe the “face of boe(?)” might be the a future version of the Doctor checking in to help guide himself on the path.

Ok.. I LOVED Tennant and Eccelston. (Was bummed when Ec left but I get it as an actor myself) But my Fav’s are (In order) Tom Baker, Tennent, Eccelston, Jon Pertwee. (I really did love pertwee. So Strong and what an actor.

I am Bummed. I thought when he regenerates in the last ep. and came back as himself that we would be saved for a few more seasons before having to adapt to a new actor in the role. Guess not.

But after doing the big “End of time” ep. where do you go? We know the Master will be back and several other baddies will resurface. (not the Daleks I hope at least not for a long time.) But Time being time…. who knows! Even worse than star trek. It already a paradox just being in the show.

read through (most of)this drivel, didn’t really see any spoilers. Must be because I’m coming into the discussion so late…

there is one thing with the “12 regenerations” debate – it was mentioned throughout the “new” series’ (Eccleston/Tennant) – THE DOCTOR IS NOT “THE DOCTORS” REAL NAME

To me it looks like this is not necessarily The (“real”) Doctor, he may be a clone like Jenny or an associate that has taken over the TARDIS and the title.

I liked both Eccleston and Tennants’ portrayals of The Doctor, but they were both too sure that they are sex on legs. The writers have them expecting people to love them on sight. I’d love to see a story line where the companion can’t stand The Doctor but for whatever reason, they have to stay together. Even better, The Doctor could have feelings towards the companion which aren’t recipricated which could make for strong story lines.

Overall, most of the Eccleston/Tennant storylines have been sewn up and finished, so it makes me wonder, how are the writers going to weave in new story lines beyond season 5 of the (new) DW that will match the exsting storylines?

Never cared for British television (with the exception of Monty Python) until recent times. It lacked the visual scope of American fare, no matter how good the writing. And as much as I love Science Fiction (note the reverent capitals) of any kind, I just could NOT get behind Doctor Who… until the series reincarnation in 2005. Then I fell in love. It’s simply BRILLIANT! Eccleston and Tennant were fantastic. The majesty, splendour and tragedy of the Last of the Time Lords was gotten across beautifully. Matt Smith (whoever HE is) has big shoes to fill.

BTW, a note to GAry 7… the phrase is “bated” breath. Not “baited”. Make sense now?

I found Tennant near-unwatchable. Unpleasantly rodent-faced and much too uppity for the role. Obviously the writing is also at fault here. Tantrum-throwing doesn’t suit the doctor.

The BBC are keeping the regeneration scene under wraps. It will go out on Christmas Day in the UK with a massive cliff hanger before the final Tennant episode is shown sometime before the end of the Xmas period – quite possibly New Year’s Day with loads of teaser trailers and press coverage over the Christmas week. With probably one of the highest TV ratings of this century.

Uhmm, any help? How would you desribe the hair? I think the sort of half smirk is kind of funny, and very doctor-ish. I dunno, maybe Matt will be a good Doctor. I don’t think he’ll ever live up to David’s version though. I will miss his constont banter and 90 mile speach, but we all knew he wouldn’t be here forever.

I have to admit I am very sad to see Tennant leave. He is the only reason I actually like the show. There is something about him that draws you in. I doubt very much that I will continue to watch the show after he leaves. I did try to watch previous episodes without him in it, but it just was not the same.

I am very sad to see the smexy David Tennant leave Doctor Who but when i heard he was leaving it made me wonder how they were going to kill him…it’ll have to be the most awesomest death scene moffat has ever written cause i swear if tennant’s doctor dies cause he falls or trips or somethign not dramatic then i’m gonna seriously kill someone…

i saw the easter special and it was hilarious!!! i can’t wait to see the next one..does anyone know when it might be on? any thoughts as to when?
