The BA : <i>"Not everyone is happy that Obama won." </i>

I am though! ;-) :-D

Thankfully sanity - & planetarium-loving voters - have prevailed! :-)

Unscientific as it may be, I've got a very good feeling that you folks in the States have just gone from your worst ever President to what promises to be perhaps one of your best ever ones! :-)

BTws. Just who is that alien figure & whats it from?

I agree with PsyberDave. I really have to question the authenticity of that photo based on how McCain looks. Did anyone else notice how funny he appears?

Annette asked: "...wouldn’t the heliosphere keep us in our solar system and in return keep the nasties out? Assuming they don’t have some sort of faster than light jump thing à la Battlestar Galactica, how the heck would they make it through that sheath that travels at over a million kilometers per hour?"

The individual particles might be travelling that fast, but they're so dispersed that space out there is a higher grade vacuum than anything we can create here on Earth.

Oh my yes... That's very fake.

Actually none of the local species really resemble you hunams. Most aren't even hunamoid. And those who are aren't neccesarily hunam-sized. (And you certainly can't confuse 'em with hunams.)

That thing looks like a hunam who had an unfortunate accident.

That and none of the species in the galaxy cares about you hunams, that's why they don't make contact. Its kind of like how you wouldn't be to thrilled with having cartoon cavepeople living next door. We don't really want you around with spaceships and stuff. Kind of like how you wouldn't give one of your larvae a loaded weapon with the safety off.

# Damien Says: "Phil, Just out of curiosity, What would you do if you learned that the extraterrestrials really did support McCain? - : )"

I don't think Phil has to worry about it. I've been informed by Zorgon of Epsilon Indi that all other civilizations in the galaxy are Liberal Democrats.*

*(Except the Fangboonie of Alpha Centauri who base their economy on the value of old broadcast transmissions of the Xavier Cugat Orchestra.)

Kevin, yeah its always like those ancient history documentaries on Discovery. They make you believe at the beginning that they actually found something extremely cool, only to let you down at the end with their "well if it DID happen... this is how it went" endings. I keep watching them like a Pavlovian dog thinking that maybe THIS time I'll get the treat I'm yearning for. ;) I'm such a sucker.

Annette: <I>Kevin - I just googled Fastwalkers…. it looked…er… interesting.</I>

Yep. My stepmother got a stack of UFO DVDs from her cousin and knowing as a teenager I ate that stuff up, she gave them to me. Nothing new. Nothing solid. I'm not surprised, but... *sigh*

I’ am with you guys it's clearly a fake, if the Aliens knew about Tom Tancredo then they certainly knew about Kirk(if he couldn't shag it, he would kill it and that proves that they haven't visited) similar philosophy in my opinion! Good luck to you all you Americans, also very good news for us all.

Annette: You cannot think of those numbers in terms of some sort of headwind. Space is mostly that: Lots of - empty - space, so there's really nothing pushing against "outsiders" with any kind of significant force (not considering ultra-light, ultra-wide solar sail structures here). You *will* need proper shielding though.

Kevin - I just googled Fastwalkers.... it looked...er... interesting.

With respect to aliens visiting us though, I've always wondered something. This will probably be a stupid question for you astronomy pros, but wouldn't the heliosphere keep us in our solar system and in return keep the nasties out? Assuming they don't have some sort of faster than light jump thing à la Battlestar Galactica, how the heck would they make it through that sheath that travels at over a million kilometers per hour?

...don't laugh ;) Its just a stupid question I've always wondered about but have been too ashamed to ask someone... maybe Dr. BA can clue me in. ;)
