Somehow that doesn’t surprise me although surely even most “conservative” Americans now see Limbaugh for the unfunny joke he is.

The “basis” for Limbaugh’s opinions on what he wrongly labels “Obama’s recession” (The “Lesser Bush’s Depression” would be the accurate tag for it) I’ve little doubt are his own delusions stemming from his ideological bile-solidified brain cell. (Yes, that’s cell, singular. )

I am so glad to see sanity – and Asler planetarium – prevail and I hope the anti-science forces have been defeated heavily enough that they never return. Yes, I know the election was about a lot else as well as the planetarium dispute but still I think & hope it played a part in the campaign albeit maybe smaller than it should’ve, and that folks’ll learn from this.

Maybe when they’ve got the Adler planetarium finished they should invite President Obama, Vice-Pres. Biden and also the now happpily retired John McCain and that fruitcake Sara Palin in for the first show so they can see for themselves what the fuss was about?

Of course, science and science education eg. planetaria should be publicly funded! I mean .. d’uh!

Science and the opportunity for an education and hence future and having some sort of reasonable and wonder-filled understanding of the cosmos we live in should be a basic human right for everyone and is unquestionably in the public good – & hence worthy of public funding.

Apparently the tanking of the real estate market, record losses in the auto industry, and massive failures in the banking and investment industry have very little to do with our problems. The economic system is collapsing, Rush wants us to know, because it anticipates the tax increases Obama has pledged on capital gains and for the highest income earners.
So he calls it the “Obama” recession based on what? His speculations on what will happen, as opposed to what actually did happen already, under the current administration. These people are reaching.

Lets do just that!

The federal government currently has a deficit of $500 billion (actually much more then that), and a debt of $70 trillion.

Whatever the financial status of Illinois or the local government is, I think it can afford the projector much more then the federal government, thank you.

It is worthwhile to note that the area around the south part of Grant park has the Field Museum of Natural History, Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium all within easy walking distance and make a great combination. Also the Museum of Science and Industry isn’t far and fascinating. I would say it isn’t just even the star projector, but continuing to keep the entire area supported and current.
