Little Atoms interview

I did an interview with Neil Denny of the Little Atoms radio/podcast show in the UK, and it will be broadcast at 19:00 GMT today on Resonance 104.4 FM. The podcast will go up shortly thereafter for those of us unfortunate enough not to live in the land of The Doctor (I’ll post a link when I get it). We talked about the book, of course: asteroids, black holes, and The End Of Everything. It was a fun interview, and I hope y’all like it!

Hey, that’s a local radio station here in London, UK. I’ll make sure that I tune in at 19:00 GMT. Thanks for the heads up, Phil!

You can listen to the show live via MP3 stream at:

Resonance FM’s radio broadcast only covers central London. For the rest of us, you can stream it live here:

    http://icecast.commedia.org.uk:8000/resonance_hi.mp3.m3u

Some far out ambient synth stuff playing at the moment to get us in the mood! 50 minutes to go…

    For those who want to listen live online, though I don’t know if it is accessible outside the UK, the link is;

    http: // resonancefm.com/listen

remove the space either side of the forward slashes. Done to try and avoid the delay for links.

There is an mp3 and an ogg stream as well as a low quality mp3 stream if you have problems with the main streams.

Nope the spaces doesn’t stop moderation, try again :)

    For those who want to listen live online, though I don’t know if it is accessible outside the UK, the link is;

    add h t t p : / /

    without the spaces before

    resonancefm.com/listen

There is an mp3 and an ogg stream as well as a low quality mp3 stream if you have problems with the main streams.

I’ve already provided a direct link to the MP3 stream, but (at the time of writing this) it’s still “awaiting moderation”!

IVAN3MAN, yep it’s a real pain. I can understand the need, but moderation for just one link?

  9. 9.   IVAN3MAN Says:
    December 12th, 2008 at 11:56 am

    I don’t know why I bother, sometimes!

  10. 10.   IVAN3MAN Says:
    December 12th, 2008 at 12:00 pm

Well, John Phillips, the shows about to start so I’m going to listen now.

Not bad, at least the interviewer asked decent questions and then just let Phil talk, which he is always good at :)

I posted the link too, but also awaiting moderation. I hadn’t guessed it was because of the link but will remember that for next time. Good work John Phillips.

Was an interesting interview, good to hear some good science being broadcast on our airwaves!

Monkey, it is also worth noting that you can end up in moderation if you post too many times within a particular time period, though I don’t know how many and what time period.

  14. 14.   Jim Baerg Says:
    December 12th, 2008 at 12:52 pm

I can”t find a link that allows me to download an mp3 file so I can listen to it.

  15. 15.   IVAN3MAN Says:
    December 12th, 2008 at 12:57 pm

Well, I had to resort to listening via good old-fashioned FM analogue radio, because my 2Mb broadband cable connection decided to have ‘one of its turns’!

  16. 16.   John Phillips, FCD Says:
    December 12th, 2008 at 1:10 pm

Jim Baerg, it isn’t available yet, but when it is it will be available at

    littleatom.com

preceded by the usual 3 Ws and a dot

on the Previous Guests page and then find Phil’s name in the column on the right and click on it.

“on the Previous Guests page and then find Phil’s name in the column on the right and click on it.”

Am I looking at the right site? This doesn’t make any sense to me. In fact, I’m afraid the site doesn’t make much sense to me either. I hate those Flash web site things, sorry. They are almost as bad an idea as the Fifth Element DVD menu (those who have it will know what I mean).
